RFID file and folder label

File Tag

File tags turn every physical folder into a scannable asset. Paired with a UHF reader or handheld, a whole shelf of records can be inventoried in seconds instead of read spine by spine — which is why they are used across records rooms, legal departments, hospitals and government offices.

RFID file and folder label

File / Folder Label (Alien 9640 based)

Powered by Alien's Higgs 3 UHF RFID IC and Squiggle antenna design, this inlay delivers EPC Gen 2 performance with a 32-bit TID, a 64-bit unique TID for authentication and serialization, an extensible EPC memory bank, 512 bits of user memory, and password protected read and write support to prevent unauthorized viewing or modification of the tag's data. File folder labels are one of its primary applications, alongside shipping labels and asset management.

Reading files in bulk

For shelf-level file tracking, the Zebra FX9600 fixed UHF reader is the usual pairing — it supports up to 8 antenna ports at up to +33 dBm for high-density reading. For spot checks and audits away from a fixed reader, the Chainway C72 handheld reads over 200 tags per second at up to 25 metres indoors.
