What is the difference between an RFID UHF reader and an integrated reader?

An integrated reader combines the reader and antenna in a single housing, while a fixed UHF reader like the FX9600 is a standalone unit with several antenna ports. That lets one reader cover several lanes, gates or zones at once, and lets you choose 8 dBi or 12 dBi antennas per position based on the read range each one needs.

How far can the reader detect tags?

Read range depends on the antenna. A single 8 dBi antenna reads up to 8 metres, and a single 12 dBi antenna reads up to 15 metres. Both are circular polarized and IP 66 rated, so tag orientation and outdoor exposure have little effect on performance.

Where are fixed UHF readers typically deployed?

They suit logistics and warehouse management, dock-door portals, RFID tunnels and gates, and inventory management — anywhere large numbers of tags pass a fixed point. The FX9600 supports up to 8 antenna ports at up to +33 dBm, with PoE power and a rugged IP53 housing.
